Leading hydrogen associations in Canada and India announce MOU to promote collaboration
TORONTO and DELHI – The Canadian Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (CHFCA) and the Hydrogen Association of India (HAI) are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This agreement will stimulate cooperation between Canada and India in the development and deployment of zero-emission hydrogen and fuel cell technologies.
The MOU defines various areas for collaboration between the Canadian and Indian sectors which include the exchange of marketing and communications collateral such as whitepapers, case studies, and reports; the sharing of best practices in regards to hydrogen and fuel cell codes and regulations; identifying and overcoming common technology barriers to the production, distribution, storage and use of hydrogen; and facilitating networking and communications between the CHFCA and HAI via trade missions.
Such collaboration will foster an environment for identifying opportunities for joint industry and research projects in hub development, power-to-hydrogen, heavy-duty transportation, fueling infrastructure, and refining and chemical production.
“We’re delighted to deepen our partnership with the Hydrogen Association of India through this MOU, aimed at enhancing our collaborative impact,” says Ivette Vera-Perez, President and CEO of the CHFCA. “This step forward builds on our successful history to drive mutual growth and innovation for our members, and we thank the Trade and Invest BC team for their support in facilitating this partnership.”
“The Hydrogen Association of India is pleased to collaborate with the Canadian Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association,” says Dr. R.K. Malhotra, President and CEO of HAI. “Through this partnership, we will promote mutually beneficial technologies via trade missions, conferences, and webinars.”
The CHFCA and HAI kicked off their partnership by recently co-hosting a B2B webinar with the support of the Trade and Invest BC team in India to highlight both Canadian and Indian capabilities in hydrogen and fuel cell technologies.
India’s hydrogen sector has witnessed significant attention and momentum as a pivotal component of the country’s commitment to sustainable and clean energy. The government’s focus on hydrogen reflects a strategic shift toward reducing carbon emissions and fostering environmental sustainability.
With the exploration of a National Hydrogen Mission and various policy initiatives, India aims to create a robust ecosystem for hydrogen technologies.
The CHFCA and HAI will work closely to identify partnership opportunities for their respective members who span the entire hydrogen value chain, including production, storage, transportation, and applications in industries such as transportation, power generation, and manufacturing.
