Q&A with new member Pulsenics

Sep, 2 2025

TORONTO – The Canadian Hydrogen Association (CHA) and Hydrogen Ontario are excited to welcome Pulsenics as our newest Start-up Member.

Pulsenics, headquartered in Toronto, delivers real-time electrochemical diagnostics for electrolysers. Powered by the Pulse Probe series, their advanced electrochemical impedance spectroscopy solutions provide rapid, non-destructive insights into cell and stack performance. These insights enable precise identification of performance losses, early prediction of cell failures, qualification of materials and components, and high-throughput quality assurance. Together, these capabilities improve the reliability and efficiency of electrolysis systems, directly enhancing the technoeconomics of green hydrogen production

Mariam Awara, COO and Co-Founder of Pulsenics, said, “Operational inefficiencies are a major threat to a flourishing green hydrogen sector. Our mission is to help Canadian manufacturers of hydrogen assets make data-informed choices that enable hydrogen production at economies of scale. Advanced diagnostics will make this possible.”

The CHA had the opportunity to learn more about Pulsenics from Ms. Awara:

Why did Pulsenics join the CHA?
Pulsenics joined the CHA to help accelerate the scale-up of hydrogen production across Canada by reducing electrolyser downtime and optimizing operations. As the hydrogen industry grows in Canada, it’s crucial to continuously improve electrolyser reliability and reduce production costs. Advanced diagnostic solutions, designed around Pulsenics’ industry-leading hardware suite, are already helping electrolyser and fuel cell manufacturers improve stack efficiency, identify degradation early, and reduce downtime. With their industry partners, Pulsenics’ mission is to unlock low-cost green hydrogen production at scale. They believe that collaboration across the hydrogen value chain is essential to meeting climate and industrial decarbonization goals. By joining CHA, Pulsenics is excited to contribute technical insight, learn from industry peers, and support the collective advancement of Canada’s hydrogen economy.

What would you like to share with other members of the CHA community? Pulsenics leads the Canada-Germany HYER consortium: an industry and academic working group focused on lowering the cost of green hydrogen production through advanced electrolyser analytics. They are actively seeking confidential data-sharing partners to contribute anonymized performance data to support the development of next-generation diagnostic models. In return, partners receive tailored insights into their electrolyser performance and benchmarking opportunities.
