TORONTO – The Canadian Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (CHFCA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Maike Althaus as Executive Director of Hydrogen Ontario.
In this role, Maike will lead the CHFCA’s provincial affiliate in Ontario (Hydrogen Ontario) and oversee marketing, communications, government relations and membership engagement for the province’s hydrogen sector.
“We are thrilled to welcome Maike to our team at the CHFCA and Hydrogen Ontario,” says Ivette Vera-Perez, President and CEO of the CHFCA. “With her extensive expertise in clean energy and low carbon technologies, Maike brings a wealth of knowledge that will be invaluable to our organization. Her dedication, strong work ethic, and deep passion for the sector are perfectly aligned with our mission and we are confident that Maike’s contributions will be instrumental in driving Hydrogen Ontario’s growth in both membership and impact.”

In this double role, she advocated for Canada’s cleantech companies to address the sector’s key challenges: access to capital, markets and customers. Maike will continue her engagement with Canada Cleantech Alliance until at least Q2 2024.
“I am excited to join the Canadian Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association and to help the province of Ontario unlock the tremendous economic opportunities along the hydrogen value chain. It is time for hydrogen to be recognized as an important driver of the energy transition.”
Maike has been working in the global cleantech sector for over 15 years. She has a background in global brand building and growth communications both in North America and in Europe where she has been communicating for global companies such as Senvion, Veolia Water, Viessmann, E.ON and BNP Paribas Cardif as well as for governments, politicians and not-for-profits.
The CHFCA and Hydrogen Ontario would like to thank former executive director Robert Stasko for his immense contributions to the sector and look forward to working with Robert in his new role as Senior Advisor at Hydrogen Ontario.
