The City of Calgary joins the CHA as new member
The Canadian Hydrogen Association (CHA) is honoured to welcome The City of Calgary as a new member.
The City of Calgary is the municipal government for Calgary, Alberta’s largest city and Canada’s third-largest municipality, serving roughly 1.5 million residents. It operates as a local government distinct from the provincial and federal levels, responsible for services like public transit, water, waste management, policing, and infrastructure planning.
“The City of Calgary welcomes the opportunity to deepen its understanding of Canada’s hydrogen industry,’ says Philippa Wagner, Green Fleet Program Manager at The City of Calgary. “By engaging with the Canadian Hydrogen Association, Calgary aims to build valuable connections and expand its knowledge within this growing sector.”
Through the Advancing Hydrogen in a Municipal Fleet Project, supported by funding from Emissions Reduction Alberta, The City is currently exploring the feasibility of hydrogen fueled vehicles and equipment for municipal applications. The project also involves the modification of maintenance bays to meet building code and safety requirements.
The Advancing Hydrogen Pilot Project is part of The City’s Green Fleet Strategy, which outlines actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the corporate fleet by 60 per cent by 2030 and be net zero by 2050.
