Matthew Klippenstein

Executive Director, Hydrogen BC;
Regional Director, Western Canada

Matthew Klippenstein oversees CHA’s member services, advocacy, government relations and outreach in western Canada. His career has encompassed activities ranging from research, product development, equipment commissioning and manufacturing engineering through to project bankability studies, program administration and consensus-building in stratas (homeowner associations).

Prior to joining CHA Mr. Klippenstein worked in hydrogen fuel cells, wind energy and electric vehicle infrastructure, and was the first person to chronicle the Canadian EV market. He has assisted journalists with reportage across print, web, radio, podcast and television on more than 100 occasions, including on NPR and BBC. He co-authored the Fuel Cell Industry Review in 2017 and 2018 and is a Board member of the US Pacific Northwest-based Renewable Hydrogen Alliance. He has a Bachelor’s of Applied Science from the University of British Columbia.
